On Friday, May 4th, all of City View Charter School's students in grades K-8 travelled to Shute Park to participate in community service. The school, which teaches using a model called EL Education was among over 100 schools in the EL Education network to participate in Better World Day, a national day of service. With the help from Hillsboro Park and Recreation Department the younger students washed benches and equipment and older student spread mulch and pulled weeds. Many of the students have a personal connection with the park and really enjoyed helping. At City View we highly value character education and community service so it was a great feeling to get our whole school volunteering together. Our goal is to prepare students to be life-long learners who contribute to a better world.
