This year our First Grade Crew welcomed Pacific University undergraduate students to observe dialogue between students and teacher. They spent about six weeks in our classroom researching their essential question:
What is the nature of the questions teachers utilize in their interactions with students and how do they affect the quality of teacher-student dialogue?
In order to best record data these students used observation log, audio tapes, and student interviews to gain specific knowledge critical to their question. Here at City View we work closely with local schools to collaborate. As a small community, collaboration is a key principle in how EL Education functions. We welcome teacher candidates to our classroom to learn and grow with us because that aligns with who we are as researchers, learners, and teachers.
