Admission FAQ's & Application
Admissions FAQ & Application Info
🏫 Who Can Apply?
City View Charter School is a tuition-free public school open to all eligible students in grades K–8. We welcome applications from residents of Hillsboro and surrounding areas, regardless of background or academic history.
💵 Donations and Fees
While there is no tuition, we ask families to consider a voluntary annual donation of $850 per student. These contributions help support:
-
Fieldwork and outdoor learning
-
Arts and enrichment programs
-
Classroom supplies and small group instruction
📋 How Admission Works
-
Kindergarten & Open Grade Levels: Students are admitted through a computerized lottery system to ensure fairness.
-
Grades 1–8: Admission is based on space availability, which may vary from year to year.
🎯 Lottery Priority Order
If there are more applicants than available spaces, lottery placement is prioritized as follows:
-
Siblings of currently enrolled students
(A student is considered enrolled after attending at least one day at City View.) -
Students living within the Hillsboro School District
-
Students living outside the Hillsboro School District
Once all seats are filled, additional applicants are placed on a waitlist in the order drawn.
📅 Application Timeline
Applications for the 2025–2026 school year are now open!
-
Round 1 Application Deadline: March 13, 2025
-
Round 1 Lottery Date: May 15, 2025
All applications received by the deadline will be included in the lottery.
🎟️ Lottery Process- 2nd Round
-
Eligible applications submitted by March 13 will be entered into a randomized lottery.
-
Families will be notified of the outcome: either an offer of enrollment or a waitlist number.
-
If your child is offered a space, you will have one week to confirm acceptance.
- If your application is received after March 15th, your student will be entered into our second-round lottery. This lottery will not replace or rerun the original lottery; it will simply add new applicants to the end of the existing waitlist.
👨👩👧 Sibling Consideration
-
Siblings of current students receive priority in the lottery and will move to the top of the waitlist for their grade.
-
If one sibling is accepted and the other is not, the second sibling receives elevated waitlist priority once the first is enrolled and has attended their first day of classes.
🧾 Missed the Deadline?
If you apply after May 13, your application will be added to the end of the waiting list on a first come basis.
🧩 IEPs and 504 Plans
Yes—City View welcomes all learners, including those with IEPs and 504 Plans.
-
City View has a resource room model only for special education services.
-
As a small school, the availability of some supports may differ from larger district schools.
-
Please notify us of any IEP or 504 Plan during enrollment (not during application) so we can plan the appropriate support in advance.
💸 Additional Costs?
There are no required fees to attend City View.
However, because we receive less funding than traditional public schools, we encourage families to contribute to our Bridge the Gap Fund if they are able. Donation request is set at $850 a year per student. This can be adjusted based on family need. This donation helps to support:
-
Fieldwork opportunities
-
Arts programming
-
Small class sizes and staff resources
📚 Can I Enroll Mid-Year?
Mid-year enrollment is possible if space becomes available. To be considered, submit an application. If a spot opens up, families will be contacted based on their position on the waitlist.
