Accessing ParentVue
Synergy is our school student information system. Parents are able to view their student’s progress online by logging on to their ParentVue account. If you’re new to City View or don’t know if you have an account set up, please email the office for an activation key and instructions.

Emergency Information- Flash Alert
In the event of emergencies, inclement weather, or urgent alerts City Viewl will utilize one or more of the following communication methods to provide information and updates to families and staff:
- Email: Please be sure to add [email protected] to your contacts.
- School Website: All high-priority alerts will be posted to the home page of the website (look for an alert bar on the page).
- School App: All alerts will be sent through City View's app and families may receive a text through the system as well
- FlashAlert: We want to encourage all parents to sign up on www.flashalert.net to receive email, text messages, or alert notifications of school emergency closures. For inclement weather, we follow the Hillsboro School District's decisions. For directions on how to sign up, please see below:
FlashAlert Instructions
FlashAlert is an Internet-based system for delivering changes in schedule (such as snow closures), and other news, to the news media. Message delivery has been extended directly to the public through FlashAlert Messenger. You may self-register and manage up to three home or office email and/or cell phone text message addresses and receive emergency information just minutes after we post it, at no cost to you.
To get started, go to www.FlashAlert.net and click on “Manage Your Messenger Subscription.” From there, click on “Create New Account” and enter your information.
You may enter one or two more email or cell text addresses, but texting is not as reliable as email. After entering them, you will launch a validation message to each address. Obtain the two-letter code in the message and post it back into your account to validate that address (or click on the provided link). This is done to make sure that your messages will reach you.
To add City View's subscription, Click on “Add a Subscription”, select the Portland/Vancouver/Salem region, then search for City View Charter School. Please be aware that with the proliferation of spam and the resulting spam filters, it is impossible to guarantee message delivery. Remember that message delivery is dependent on cell companies accepting in a timely fashion the messages we send to them to send to you. Messages not accepted by cell phone companies after one hour will be deleted from the system to avoid the confusion that may be created by a late-arriving message.
An even better option than text messaging is a new, free iOS/Android app, FlashAlert Messenger, that lets you receive emergency messages through Push Notification. Text messages need to be accepted into your carrier’s text message channel and screened for spam. During crunches, cell companies have taken an hour or longer to deliver some messages (and it seems to be getting worse). Push Notification, on the other hand, travels a non-stop path from FlashAlert to the app on your phone. Plus, there are no per-message charges and PN also works on Wi-Fi-only devices. And the app will allow you to see all of the recent news posted in your region.
The app process is simple. iOS and Android users download and open the free FlashAlert Messenger app. Enter the email address and password for your current FlashAlert account and the app will link to it. The app may ask permission to send you Push Notifications. That’s it. You will continue to make changes to your account (i.e. adding schools or orgs you want to hear from or changing an email address) the way you always have, at www.FlashAlertMessenger.net/login.html
All addresses registered on FlashAlert will remain confidential. Once a year, you will receive an email at your registered email address asking if you wish to continue your subscription.
Inclement Weather
Inclement Weather Decision-Making
We want to have students in school whenever possible; however, we also want to keep students and staff safe. City View will generally default to what Hillsboro School District (HSD) advises. However, we always suggest families review our website and app to verify City View’s plan for the weather that day. Generally:
- A 2 Hour Delay on a Monday to Thursday will mean classes will start 2 hours later than normal. If the delay happens on a Friday, we will not hold classes at all.
- School Canceled means there will be no classes on campus that day.
For weather-related events, our campuses are either open or closed. Usually, school buildings themselves offices remain open; however, there are times when severe weather warrants the closure of the entire school. In addition, it is typically the case that when school has been canceled for the day, all afternoon and evening activities and before/ after school childcare will be canceled as well.
Ways to stay in “In the Know.”
- FlashAlert. FlashAlert is the system most local school districts and public agencies use to inform the media about weather-related delays, emergencies, and breaking news. You can subscribe to Flash Alert by visiting www.flashalert.net, and clicking on View Local News, Portland/Vanc/Salem, and Washington Co. Schools, then Hillsboro Sch. Dist. Follow the steps to set up your account and download the free FlashAlert Messenger mobile app to receive push notifications when the District sends out weather or other urgent information.
- City View Website: The School’s Website will always have the most current information about any inclement weather event posted in the alert bar on both the homepage and the inclement weather page. Please check for updates throughout the day.
- City View App: City View’s app will send out notices to families via text and/or email. Please ensure your app is up to date and you have notices turned on.
We always suggest families use caution when the roads are cold, icy, or snowy. If school is in session, but it is not safe for you to drive, please contact the office as soon as possible.
Student Illness
- Any new onset of rash
- Diarrhea
- Difficulty breathing
- Discolored drainage from eyes
- Draining wounds that cannot be covered with a bandage
- Fever greater than 100.5 degrees
- Jaundice (yellow color to skin or eyes)
- Stiff neck or headache with fever
- Unusual sleepiness, lethargy, or irritability
- Vomiting
Students will need to be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Please note: a new background check must be completed every school year and is necessary for any type of volunteering, including chaperoning fieldwork.
