Cub Crew Preschool FAQ's

The Cub Crew Preschool program is fee-based and affiliated with City View Charter School's K-8 EL Education Program. Enrollment is open to fully potty-trained children aged 3 to 5. Students must be three by September 1st of the school year. The program provides a quality EL Education early childhood model inspired by Reggio Emilia.

Unfortunately, no. City View's preschool program is separate from the elementary school, and even if your child is in our preschool program, you will still need to register for the lottery when he or she is ready to enter Kindergarten.

Please bring the items listed below for your child’s first school day. It can be a wonderful experience for your child to be involved in choosing the items below with you! Please permanently label all items with your child’s name. Please note: all items are to be left at school:

  • Please bring a pair of non-skid, rubber-soled tennis shoes to wear indoors and for gym time (no slippers or flip-flops).
  • A pair of waterproof rain boots, waterproof rain pants, and raincoat your child can manage independently.
  • A complete change of clothes, including socks and underwear (please place these in a gallon–sized Ziplock bag with your child’s name clearly & permanently marked on the clothing and the bag).
  • A sweatshirt or sweater.
  • Please note: no backpacks - our cubby space is minimal.

Your child must feel confident and comfortable with using the bathroom independently. We understand accidents happen; however, our school cannot accommodate the use of pull-ups or frequent accidents unless specified by a documented medical condition. Your child must be fully toilet trained, and this includes during rest time.

While the Cub Crew Preschool program follows a traditional “school year,” the students begin their designated program after Kindergarten. Students are phased in over the first few weeks of school so that we can give more attention to each child as they transition. Therefore, your child will “visit” for a few days as part of their phase-in.

Outlined below is an EXAMPLE schedule:

  • Tuesday, September 4th, the first day of school for all public charter students
  • On Monday, September 11th, bring your child for a brief (15 to 20 min.) visit at 3:45 PM
  • On Tuesday, September 12th, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
  • On Wednesday, September 13th, 9:00AM to 12:15PM
  • On Thursday, September 14th, full day, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Families can submit a Cub Crew Preschool form, which is linked above. Our program director will contact families to schedule an interview and tour. The family will receive an acceptance notice if spaces are available after the interview. The acceptance notice will include the school's documentation for enrolling the student and a way to pay the enrollment fee.
Snacks will be provided in all of our programs.  In the full-day program, we will be asking families to provide lunches only.
